Service | Time to Start | Timeline after Start |
---|---|---|
Transgenic Mice | 4 weeks | From the injection date of DNA, it will be a minimum of 6 weeks before we will be able to deliver mice to you (almost 3 weeks for gestation, and at least 3 weeks of postnatal growth before weaning). During the 4 weeks prior to injection, constructs are reviewed and approved by the IBC rDNA committee, DNA is received and fragments are gel-purified by the core, genotyping assays are reviewed, and mice to fulfill the service are ordered and received from Jax. |
Chimeric Mice | 8 weeks | From the injection date of cells, it will be a minimum of 6 weeks before we will be able to deliver mice to you (almost 3 weeks for gestation, and at least 3 weeks of postnatal growth before weaning). It will be another 6 weeks before the male chimeras wil be old enough to breed, and a minimum of another 6 weeks before you will have weaned offspring to genotype to test for germ line transmission--a total of 4.5 months from injection to testing for germ line transmission. During the 8 weeks prior to injection, the chimera request is reviewed by the rDNA committee of the IBC, the ES cells are thawed and grown, and mice are ordered and received. |
Rederived Mice | 3 weeks | From the start of rederivation, it will be a minimum of 6 weeks before we will be able to deliver mice to you (almost 3 weeks for gestation, and at least 3 weeks of postnatal growth before weaning). |
Nuclease Injection | 4 weeks | From the injection date, it will be a minimum of 6 weeks before we will be able to deliver mice to you (almost 3 weeks for gestation, and at least 3 weeks of postnatal growth before weaning). During the 4 weeks prior to injection, constructs are reviewed and approved by the IBC rDNA committee, genotyping assays are reviewed, and mice to fulfill the service are ordered and received from Jax. |
Embryo Cryo | on hold | The time to cryopreserve sufficient numbers of high quality embryos is dependent on the size of the colony and the fecundity of the strain. |
Sperm Cryo | on hold | The time to cryopreserve sperm is only dependent on the availability of mature, proven males and can be performed immediately. |
Gene Targeting | immediately | From the start date of gene targeting, it will be a minimum of 5 weeks before the first set of cell line DNAs is provided, and a minimum of 3 weeks after positive targeting events have been identified by Southern blotting before we will deliver the second set of DNAs for confirmation of the selected, targeted lines. During the immediately interval prior to electroporation, the core receives, cuts and purifies the targeting construct for electroporation, reviews the detection strategy and grows ES cells and feeders for electroporation. |
